Life of an SSC JE in MES

Life of a JE in MES can be better told if I tell you that in what aspects my life has changed after joining Military Engineer Services.

The day final result was declared I felt so happy as it made my parents happy and also changed status of mine from being a jobless engineer to an employed engineer. Yes! It was really a very relaxing night of my life because something is always better than nothing.

Now lets come to the point, When I reached my allotted station ( a typical army office with full of greenery) after all my document verification I was posted to E-2 section of GE Office which deals with all the paper works and planning of different works( Basically here you get the knowledge of functioning of department as E-2 is said to be the backbone of any office).

If I talk about working hour trust me you are not going to find any job with this relaxation, so the actual time is 9–5 but no one goes office before 9:30. so the timing is 9:30 - 1 pm then 3–5pm and on Wednesday and Saturday its 9:30 am –2:00 PM.

As a JE you are authorised of Type-3 Quarter i.e 3-BHK and if it is NP Type quarters then garden on front and back side as well as Grocery Card but not Liquor Card earlier Civilian were exempted with the toll tax but now due to the new policy you will not be exempted and and a monthly salary near about Rs.40000 -55000(this figure will vary based on your location).

Once you are shifted to subdivision you will perform an executive duty in which you you will have to deal with various type of works such as Special Repair, LBW,Minor works,Revenue Works and AMWP. If you are a fresher try to get a project so that you will be able to get all the in depth knowledge of practical and all the procedures.

As compared to State JE or any other department JE, MES JE is the most relaxing and easy job because it have less political interference and more respect also but promotion in this department is comparatively slow i.e minimum 8 years.

You get ample of time to study further so try not to settle in this and try for Engineering Services.

BEST LUCK FOR YOUR BRIGHT FUTURE!
I HOPE I WAS ABLE TO GIVE YOU A SATISFACTORY ANSWER.
