Group B Experience

I am currently working as a Group B employee which is a Level-6 (4200 Grade pay) job in Central Government pay matrix. Since I joined in june 2019, it has been 10 months into the service.

My Gross salary is around 55K pm and Net inhand salary is 51K pm. Along with it my mobile bill, newspaper bill and all medical bills are reimbursed.

Coming to my expenses:

• Traveling expenses: 2000 pm
• Other miscellaneous expenses including everything: approx 4K - 5K pm. It keeps varying.
• Since i am posted in my hometown and live in my own house, no need to pay rent.

Apart from these expenses all my salary is saved. Currently I am not investing anywhere.

Yes I am happy with this salary because:

• More than salary what matters for me is place of posting and luckily I got my hometown.
• It makes me financially independent and now I can prepare for higher exams without any kind of pressure.
• It allows me to help my cousin brothers who are still preparing for government jobs because my uncles do farming and all of you know the conditions of farmers.
• Being in government service, I get respect in society which makes my parents proud on me.

Since i joined in mid june in 2019, I got one and a half month salary as my first salary and with that:

• Bought new shirts for myself. It feels great when you buy something for yourself with your own earned money. (Photo captured during training)

• Brought AC for the house. This was the first time we started using AC.

• Since my mother used to wash clothes with hands, gifted her a washing machine.

I belong to a middle class family and desire to live a simple life where I can fulfill basic needs of my family and myself. This salary to some extent helps me in achieving that. I am also selected in another government job which is one level higher than the current job but its joining is still due, thereby an increase of 10k - 12k in salary.

Whether you are happy or not it all depends upon expectations and desires and vary from person to person.

So be happy with what you have, keep working hard to achieve your dreams and always keep smiling.
